STEM Pioneer: Dr. Cathy Drennan studies how molecules dance and interact with other molecules in order to understand how the interact with other molecules in the body, how they can be used as drug products, and how they impact the environment.

At her lowest point, Cathy struggled with reading even through the 6th grade (she had to repeat the year) and saw her self-esteem drop when her parents were warned that she “probably wouldn’t graduate high school. Today, she is one of the top structural biology researchers in the world and a professor at MIT.

“Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do…There is no dyslexia ceiling. It doesn’t exist.”
