The goal of this mini-course is to follow a natural progression from understanding the “why” behind spelling struggles to understanding how to support and effectively teach students with spelling struggles.
An overview is provided of spelling in structured literacy programs, the benefits of explicit instruction, and alternatives to rote memorization and rules-only approaches. We also discuss how technology can improve spelling performance, not just make corrections.

To successfully complete this course and earn your 4-credit certificate, you must achieve a score of 80% or higher on the final multiple-choice quiz (retakes permitted) + receiving a passing grade on the Reflection Essay.
