Ahoy Mateys! Join Us July 21st for a rollicking good piratey time with dyslexic children’s book author Stacey Campbell, the author of Mom’s Choice Award-Winning Book, Arrgh! (children 6 and up!).
Stacey lives in the San Juan islands and I had the pleasure of meeting with her and found her enthusiasm for writing and discovering absolutely contagious. As a child, Stacey told me, “Everything was always a story.” She would make stories up as she played with doll houses or imagine hermit crab hotels.
Arrgh! is great summer read for students. Stacey wrote like she likes to read – lots of adventure, strong characters (female and male), a wise mouse, and short chapters!
Join Us for Stacey’s Pirates Invasion – as she’ll meet online with students of all ages to share her discoveries about the real history of pirates and pirate lore, how she learned how to write about what she didn’t know, and how she eventually wrote her book!
Sign up HERE. July 21st 10:30 am PST / 1:30 pm EST Age 6 and up. Online.
Suggested Donation $15.00 per household (Stacey is generously donating proceeds to Dyslexic Advantage).
Older children and YA writers are also welcome. After her presentation for the younger kids, she said she’s also happy to answer questions about creative writing, getting ideas for writing and characters, getting published, and even how she got some of her ideas for young adult fiction.
And if you’d like a chance to win a free book and are ages 6-17 and have your parents’ permission, enter our Pirates Contest – books will be awarded for best pirate joke, best pirate drawing or costume, and best Arrgh!
