Senator Cassidy as you may know has been a strong advocate for dyslexia in the Senate (children are dyslexic, his wife started a charter school for dyslexia in Louisiana – although it has had some setbacks). Senator Cassidy has said that he would endorse DeVos for Secretary.
Some of you may be aware that there was a long battle getting former Secretary Arne Duncan to recognize dyslexia (it was opposed by teachers unions as unnecessary etc.). He did ultimately recognize it toward the end of his term – and dyslexia is now mentioned specifically in several Department of Education letters and guidelines.
