“Many programmers, including some of the brightest and best, are dyslexic…” Mike James, programmer extraordinaire, author of over 50 books, PhD MS – still admits to feeling embarrassed about his dyslexia.
In our practice, it seems as if we’ve found a high incidence of dyslexia or dyslexia traits among parents, and within this cluster, an unusually high number who are in the Internet Security field.
The strengths associated in these areas seem to be in the areas of visualization, analytical and strategic reasoning, and hands-on problem solving. Dynamic reasoning (working in a complex and continually changing environment) is also important – for the security folks, knowing where the bad guys are going to attack the system next is the critical talent.
